    Default where is this thread?

    people,
Some time ago-within the last three months or so, there was a thread which had a model of a simple human body with torso, arms, legs etc made up of ellipses I think. Just a bit more complex than stick figures. The model gave the size ratios for the bits to form lifelike models. I have been trying to find it for the last hour or so but cannot. I have looked up arms, legs, ratio, ellipse, model, proportion etc but nothing sensible has come up. If any one remembers such a thread and can get it back to me, I would be so grateful.

    regards, Erik

I drew this object a few years ago, which is possible to move the limbs about in 2D to some extent

If you convert to outlines its easier to move stuff about by rotating the bits about the joints as per the xar file attached.
It may well be a part of the thread Handrawn is pointing you at above as well.

Thanks Steve, you got it in one. However, as usual the other entries were very useful. Derek, thanks for the figurine file. That gives me some ideas and Aridzone, these animations are tempting me down a path I should resist. My aim has been to get (a) very simple stick figures that I can put into my cave maps to give a more human version of scale. I want these to be vector and to be easily modified to give different poses. I'm exploring a couple of ways that I have not seen used here but I am open to any suggestions.

The Geo Shape man is adaptable, but since that time a program called Make Human has come out. It is free.

You can morph out the human figure in about any way.

You can also pose about every body part including fingers.

You could use these figures a couple of ways, screen shot and cut them out in Xara. Or you could save them as an OBJ file and import into a 3D program, a free ware is Blender. From Blender you could save them as a 2D file as a PNG.

The nice thing about MakeHuman other than it is free, is it is 3D and give more realism. Here's a quick pose of the MakeHuman model.

Another free figure posing and animation tool is DAZ|Studio.
