    Default Access Violation Exception

For some unknown reason, Xara Extreme 3.0.2 keeps crashing when I attempt to open certain previously created graphics. I cannot figure why it opens some but not others. It keeps giving me a "Access Violation Exception" error and shutting down.

Also, when I hit the Help/Update choice, it crashes the program too.

When I double click on a photo to open the editor, it also crashes.

I have no clue why this all of sudden is happening, so any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jeff and welcome to the Xtreme Conference.

    Something is wrong here.

Have you installed any new software since you installed Xtreme?

I would recommend 1. You close Xara and reboot your computer.

If the problem persists, do a complete uninstall and a clean re-install.

Let us know if this helps.

Well, I installed Xara Extreme Pro way back when 3.0 first got released, so sure, I have installed lots of software since then...lol.

It worked fine about a month or so ago, so it has to have been something since then that has caused the problem. Not sure what I have done lately that could be the issue. I uninstalled the program and am reinstalling now. Will see what happens.

No, didn't help. It still crashes when trying to open certain files.

Well, low and behold, after trying a couple other things, a pop-up box opened saying something about DEP security, and asked to allow Xara access, and I said yes, and all seems to be working now.

    That's sounds better.

Don't you just hate things like that?

Nice way to start off the new year.
