    Norman is clever.
He made it out of his own head you know.
And he still has some wood left ...
"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.

Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.

The forum seems a bit quiet these days so here is another part finished project to while away the hours made out of my own head as raymond would say.

Norman, your carpentry skills are amazing. Many years ago I made my living as a carpenter, before earning my license as a general contractor. After getting the license, I almost never got a chance to actually do "hands-on" work anymore. Now that I'm retired, I could, but I'd have to start collecting tools all over again, and I'm not quite ready for that level of commitment...sigh...

The sad thing is that I live in a climate where I could enjoy such furniture all year, and I'm getting ready to buy some garden furniture. It won't be as nice as yours, but probably better than I could make myself at this stage of my life. I recently replaced a door at my house and it literally took me all day to do so. The brain remembers how to do these things, but the hands have completely forgotten!

Thank you Will. Yes the gathering of the tools can be quite expensive and of course power tools of all sorts have no doubt come on the market since you were a joiner/carpenter. I once checked on how many twists of the wrist it took to put a fairly medium screw in a piece of wood, it took about 60 with a power tool screwdiver it takes a few seconds. I attach the final article not too happy about the finish tho' stained and clear varnished it, probably go over it again . All scrap timber. It's a present for an ex army American friend of mine who lives nearby.

Wow, that's a pretty solid chair that should last for centuries . And it would age beautifully, too. Certainly better than what you could buy ready-made.

And it looks exceedingly comfortable, as well as being beautiful.

Norm, I envy your friends and neighbors!

The last thing I put together was a potting bench for my garden. I bought it in kit form, already pre-cut and pre-drilled. All I had to do was read the directions and screw it together.
