Making Solid Strokes with Pen Tool

I have a problem. When I draw acute angles with the pen tool, I get a triangular gap at the anchor corners. Can someone help me figure this out? I would attach an attachment, but will not accept a jpeg file created in Painter9. Go figure?

Yes, a diagram would be helpful it is difficult to visualise the exact problem.

Have you tried magnifying the area around the points to as large as possible to see if you have accidentally placed an extra point or handle without knowing?
