A transparent tiff file requires an Alpha channel. As far as I know, Xara X¹ does not support alpha channels in tiff files. Not all graphics programs support alpha channel tiffs, older versions in particular.

I just now checked Xtreme Pro to see if it supported transparent tiff and from the export dialog box, it does not. No colour depth option that has alpha channel.

Bill...am I right that currently transparency is supported only in GIF and PNG, among those commonly used on web pages?

    Yes Will, that is correct.

There is a Jpeg2000 image format that supports transparency, but I don't know of a program that currently supports it. There are probably some out there, but I don't know of them.

PSP XI supports JPEG 2000, but I tried it on our web site and neither IE or FF would show the image, so I dropped these. Newest is not alwas best...
