Trouble with Default Brush color after save and reopen
On my HotRod Fender, I used two types of brushes that refused to hold their color after save and reopen. I duplicated the problem and had the same result. The brushes are: the new hairy brush (default color: orange) and the coarse spray brush (default color: red-orange). I have since changed the brush to shapes and filled with white which I had before. They behave perfectly when used the first time. The problem only appears after saving and reopening.

did you still have the problem after converting to shape and saving and loading?
