    Question Smooth transition for backgrounds

When making backgrounds for a web page, how do I make it "fill" the page with a smooth transition?

I made a striped background png. and when applied to the web page it made a division line between the repeated images like separate tiles. I was hoping to create a solid stripe effect not a tile effect. What did I do wrong?

I hope I'm explaining this so it's understandable.

    Thanks,

    Jen

Well it would help to post a picture of your present tile, that way people could have an idea to work with. In creating tiled backgrounds for the web is uncertain with the results as every one has different browser sizes and every browser handles file type different.
If tile goes from left to right you need one scenerio and if the tile goes from top to bottom you need a different scenerio..
Post your tile and let some of us see you objective, then maybe some suggestions would be forth coming.

    OK, here's the tile.

The first is the png file I used for the web page.

The second is the xara file I made clones in.

    Thanks,

    Hi Jen,

The large size made it very easy to see your problem. The white lines don't go the full height of the image.

There also appears to be an anomaly in the upper left where the edge isn't smooth.

    Thanks Jim

Yes it did work. Now to ask a stupid question... How did you crop it. I had thought I cropped the original and it gave me a pink border. I even tried the "invisible"outline and it didn't work.

I croppped the PNG in PhotoPaint then saved as JPG, which you might have better campatability in browsers. If it doesn't work tiling for bigger window sizes let me know I willa djust for you. I find that creating the pattern in Xtreme or XtremePro then exporting to JPG and checking for edge feathering before using in browser will eliminate some hassles. When I create the patter I create in Xtreme at MAximum size of monitor width ie 1078pix or greater for horizontal tile and maximum Vertical size for Vertical align. Then when broswser tile ti whatever size it look reasonable.
