    Exclamation Lighting and Shadows.

In order to improve my drawings I have taken to serious observation of all lighting, reflections and shadows when I am out and about.

It is surprising what one notices when one is really looking and one begins to see thing in a new light.

    Or in a new shade.

Trouble is, I have a problem.

Earlier today I was observing my own shadow as I was walking down the road.

It wasn't doing what I was doing.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Was it really YOUR shadow?
Maybe it's the one from your guardian angel...

Could be the result of multiple light sources. That Wendy lady might have sewn it on crooked.

If it wasn't, then where was mine?

I did think about that, but even if that were so, my shadow would move in harmony with me, wouldn't it?

Not the thread Wendy uses... 'tis indestructible.

Not you, your shadow. All it takes is for your shadow to overlap the shadow of the pill, and the damage is done--especially if it happens in the vicinity of the mouth part of your shadow.

Best wishes, it could be quite a trip. Let us know the more interesting parts of the adventure. (And why do I feel a flash animation in the works by a certain Intbel? Why??? Why??? )

Perhaps you had used the shadow tool and had it set to a wall shadow as you thought but it was set to "glow". Have you been glowing when you weren't expecting it? Handy to find things in the dark. How do you turn a glow on, would be convenient I would think. Have you acquired any more Xara features? As in Xara you can disconnect your shadow, but once disconnected, even the Wendy lady can't help even if her thread is made of dental floss unless she knows about the magic of ultimate undo.

If you have a floor shadow, be careful you don't trip over it. If you step on your shadow, does it hurt?

    An interesting phenomenon, isn't it?

Drawing makes you look at everything in a different way... you start to see differently and it gets increasingly difficult to 'just see things' the way you used to do. it's like one of those optical illusions.... ya see two faces.... and two faces... and then a vase.... and the two faces may be lost forever.

yer shadow has a mind of it's own?

    good! syncophancy is annoying anyway.

The wonders of glasses is that it may not be a shadow after all, it could be I just haven't cleaned these darned things in a while and I am chalking up a blurr as a shadow.
