Question How does XXPRO & XPE handle imported images

    Hi,

I purchased an 300dpi image from istockphoto and I want to update it using Xara before sending it off to be printed. I imported the image into XXPRO but the bottom of the screen indicates the image is 96dpi instead of 300dpi.

I want to make the image black & white by using XPE (setting color saturation to -100). I then plan on using XPE to save it as a black & white picture before sending it off to the printer.

Will I lose any image resolution in the process?

It's displaying it at that size so that it's 1:1 on your screen. But it's not lowering the DPI. If you wish to have old behaviour you can turn it off under the Options dialog.

So while opening a file then re-saving it out can cause some damage (as would any program) that is the extent of it. Xtreme won't damage it any further, and (unlike other programs) will keep your original in the Xar file. That way you can alter it as many times as you want, come back to Xtreme alter it again and export it and you won't be causing cumulative damage.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.
