    Default Text Shortcuts

It would be nice if these two shortcuts were implemented as they are commonly used in other Windows apps.

Cut to Clipboard - Shift Delete
Paste from Clipboard - Shift Insert

Although I see that CTRL X and CTRL V do work.

CTRL+X and CTRL+V is MS Windows standard.

Which other applications do you mean?

I just noticed these shortcuts do work
Don't they work on your system? Or did I misunderstand anything?

I've noticed in the past that pasting can also be done just by pressing Insert btw.

Steven have you tried the xortcuts utility provided with the Xtreme Pro Beta?

It allows you to change shortcuts.

As far as I know any Microsoft application supports Shift Delete for cut. I think others do as well, but could be wrong.

In Xara Shift Delete will delete, but not copy to the clipboard, the selected text. Shift Insert does appear to work and is apparently the same as Insert.

    I have not used Xortcuts.

Steven, to my knowledge the Shift+Delete is used permanently delete. In Outlook it deletes an email without sending it to the Deleted Items folder. In Windows Explorer is Deletes without sending to the Recycle Bin.

I don't recall any Windows Application that uses standard keyboard shortcuts using Shift+Delete as a cut to clipboard. That's not to say there aren't any. I know that Word Perfect used many "non-standard" keyboard shortcuts. But I never used it more than a couple of times before reverting to WordStar.

If you have any Office products, try it when text editing (Word, Excel, Access, etc). I've been using it for years.

This goes back to Windows 95

SHIFT+DELETE or CTRL+X Cuts the selected text to the clipboard.

Steven it works in Word 2003, but using the local and on-line help within Word does not show that it is one of the keyboard shortcuts.

I was able to find a few references about the Shift+Delete cutting to clipboard, but they were for the Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

It looks as though they may be trying to phase out the use of Shift+Delete in Microsoft programs, but leaving it in and undocumented for backward compatibility in existing programs.

My view is that Ctrl+ X, C and V are the only universal clipboard standards - invented by Apple 22 years ago and used on all system since then. One of the very few universal cross platform standards.

With Xortcuts you should be able to configure Shift-Delete to do what you want.

Probably right. Guess it's time to change. Old habits die hard.

Interestingly, the Xtreme Pro help file says

"Cut (Edit Menu) CTRL+X or CTRL+DELETE".

(Search for "CUT" in the help file and select "Cut (Edit Menu)" topic. )

However, CTRL+DELETE only deletes text. Doesn't copy to the clipboard.
