Has anybody checked out the new movie yet?

Complex fills (advanced) NEW! Demonstrates overlaid fills and transparencies to create a realistic complex fill

It is a technique Charles discovered during beta testing. I have never seen it done, or described. Even here or in the forums. It brings xara to a new level. Even the "masters" might benefit from watching this movie.

Yes, I've seen and have already recommended it to other users in my company.

The technique is not new, however, as its been used in various illustrations shown in TalkGraphics and the XaraXone. That is why I encourage all Xara fans (old and new) to look through the "archives". Klaus Norby's artwork from long ago demonstrates the use of transparent fractals and overlays.

What the MOVIES do though demonstrates the POWER of the MEDIA. It has so much greater impact on the learning process than static pictures or illustrations.

It is my opinion, the more, well thought and directed movies that can be produced, the greater the market there will be for Xara.

I applaud the creation of these new movies and the revitilazation they should generate.

I've actually been using similar techniques for quite a while now. The movie is 9:15 minutes long and well worth the download. The server is quite slow if you have a 56K modem (even late at night) so it's about 1 to 2 hours download even with a download manager and multiple connections, beware!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

Or you can order the full or upgraded boxed version that contains all the movies created so far on the second CD (which is what I'm going to do, it's worth it and I get a manual and official Xara X1 box! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif )

    Hi John,

Thanks for letting us know the new movie was available.

It was a 2 hour download on my dial up connection, but well worth the time. I've watched it twice now, I love listening to the lady's voice http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I've also used similar technique in some of my drawings.

A minor edit of the index.xml file made the movie available within XaraX1.

Yes I wouldn't say 'discovered' so much as 'described' the technique.

This particular movie is one of the new style of more detailed movies we'd like, and hope, to do more of in the future.

It all follows from earlier posts on this forum about movies and the power they bring. Along with our automatic update and movie download mechanism we hope this will considerably help new and experienced users alike.

I have been dragging my feet with this one... However, tonight I'm downloading all the goodies. My expectations are high on that movie now... It's like "Return of the King" - all over again. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

A quick example of using the complex-fills movie.

John, I made some adjustments. Is it better now http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
