Default Page size and print quality

I tried making a 5x7 card with text and a picture, an attempt to try a greeting card design. When I finally figured out the X nomenclature for page and selection exporting, I did OK I think.

However, I was nervous about the quality of the print so I made my page 14x10 instead of 7x5. I figured then when I place pictures, they will be twice as big, then when I export, the file will be twice as big ( I always pick 100% jpeg at 300dpi ) , and when I print, there will be more resolution.

Boy is that convoluted and probably wrong. Am I using wrong logic? If I just make it 7x5, will it turn out the same quality?

    Thanks.

PS- by the way, on export, it says DPI. I read so many places that dpi is really a word for printing, not resolution. Does it really mean 300ppi?

Why not try it and see?
