    Try this:

    1. Draw a line from the left side of the screen to the right
    2. Draw another line from the right side of the screen to the left
    3. Try to "Arrange->Fit text to curve" on each line.

The line that is drawn from left to right gets you text right side up and on the top of the line, while the line drawn right to left gets you the opposite - upside down and on the bottom of the line.

This illustrates the problem at hand, and why the "Reverse Path" button is needed.

Every line has a "top" and "bottom" side, and the text wants to appear on the top. However, what is considered the "top" of the line is not what visually appears to be the top, but instead it is defined by the order in which the points on the line are created, or in other words, in which way the line is drawn.

The Reverse Path button essentially reverses the order of the points on the line. Visually it still looks the same, but it changes what is the "top" of the line.
This signature would be seven words long if it was six words shorter.

Egg's movie tutorials are really great. I actually signed up at YouTube just to watch his videos!

I learned a lot from the one on text/line combinations, especially the inner and outer circle technique plus the importance of adjusting line spacing. Great lesson, clear and easy to understand.
