Default Need help with this Aqua button.

    Hi,

I've been trying to master or develop even, the aqua style using Xara. I've been playing around with these buttons for a while now but i can't get the desired effect. Something seems to be missing but not sure what.

Here's a image of the one of been working on (blue) and the overall look that I'm hoping to achieve (red).

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    Kind regards,
    Jason

I don't see you are far off.
Don't forget, there is optical illusionery at work here.
If you do what you have done in a circular frame it will look better.

The only obvious difference, otherwise, is that the orange one appears to fade, at thebottom, from orange into almost yellow whereas yiu are only using the blue.

I had a play, and while my results are different in no way are they better.

However, there maybe something in the.xar file which may be useful as we all do things differently.

"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.

Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.

I don't know if these are any better than yours or not.

I used a Contour on the orange shape which I converted to a bitmap and applied about 50% Stained Glass transparency and placed over the orange circular filled shape to add more 3D shape. And I added a yellow orange ellipse over the bottom of the orange shape and applied an Elliptical transparency to punch up the glow.

Here's the XAR file if you want to deconstruct what I have done.

There's nothing wrong with the technique you used but I think you just need to experiment with the subtle colors and transparencies to get it just right

Thanks for the replies. I will download the xar files and see what I can do. I'll post the results.
    Much appreciated.
