Default Future feature - Blurring vectors... even possible?

Sometimes, what I like to do is apply a blur effect to parts of my drawing to give it an illusion of depth. Blurring objects up close or objects in the distance.

For example, in this frog drawing. I blurred the foreground grass and leaves and the background hills. Leaving the frog and the ground just behind the frog untouched.

To do this, I have to create bitmap copies of the objects I want to blur and apply a blur effect with Xara Picture Editor.

In future versions of Xara, would it be possible to simply select an object and with a simple slide tool within Xara, (simular to the current Feather tool) adjust the amount of blurring to the vector object? Without going through the steps of creating bitmap copies.

    Just a thought.

    Great drawing and humor!
Yes, that feature would be nice.

I agree that a blur on vectors would be nice.

    Actually, you can do this.

    Select the vector objects.

    Select the Live Effects Tool.

Click New on the Infobar and then select Enhance.

Use the Blur/Sharpen slider to make the change.

These ehnancements can be applied to any vector object and text.

    Holy cow, so you can

    Never mind then. :P

Actually, maybe then they can improve it a bit. Because once you go past -100, it goes a bit jagged (most noticable if there's inner detail)

Thanks, Gary! I didn't know that.

For some reason, I overlooked this feature in Xtreme - blurring vectors. It's so easy now.

The attached image shows two examples. The top image has no blur effects. The bottom image, the far wall, floor and mouse all have a slight blurring effect added - in the same manner as how Gary illustrates.

The bottom image, the floor has two images (a cloned image.) A linear transparency effect added to the blurred layer to blend into the "focused" or untouched layer.

It's a subtle effect - adding blurred layers, but it just adds that little extra touch.

I belive it should be Gaussian Blur or, ideally, Lens Blur.

Thumbs up Re: Future feature - Blurring vectors... even possible?

I never knew about that feature either. It adds a further level of realism that I thought was out of my reach with the somewhat limited feather tool. Damn I love this program. It just gets better.
