I am trying to figure out how to create a distressed look for some type.

I purchased a great book, Photoshop 7 Down and Dirty Tricks by S. Kelby. In it he describes how to make distressed text. It is basically a distressed mask applied to block text. I believe there is a way to do this in Xara but I have not figured it out. I am trying to create a bitmap mask of stress marks in a paint program, trace it in Xara, join it into one object and then combine it over a block text using the subtract shapes.

I was wondering if a distressed technique for Xara had already been discussed. Any help would be appreciated.

You might try converting your image to grayscale, and using stained glass transparency. The SG transparency will give a transparent graphic leaving the darker pixels. Bleach works in the other direction. A way of texturizing. Rich

I was going to show a gif or jpg export of the attached file (X1.1b) but the export fails to show the bleach filled/feathered objects.

    Looks like a bug?

    Hi Dan
I'm sure this can be done. However could you give us an idea of the stressing your after.
You could also do a search on the xaraxone, Garry has done various tutorials regarding rust effects etc.

    Raincross,

maybe this is what you want? You can find these fonts in TTF format on the net, add some sand or stone texture (bitmap) and use the clipview...
