Default Max. Page width too small. What to do??

    Hi everybody,

time for me to post again.

A client needs a display of 4x1 metres (that's roughly 13x3 ft if you're not into metric...)

Upon entering the page dimensions, Xtreme gave me an error box stating that the maxwith was only 2.75m (9ft).

It never occured to me, that I could run into such a limitation.

On the display, there will be text and two or three photos.
I can't do it in Photoshop, there's just not enough RAM in the world to work with a file this size.

Any tipps or workarounds anybody ??

    Thanks
    Wolfgang

Thank you so much Bob !!

I already thought about making it half size and then scaling it up, but I had second thoughts about the quality of the bitmaps.

Charles' answer in the post you mentioned was exactly what I needed.

    Yoohoo !!

You can also squeeze out a greater page size by REDUCING the MARGIN parameter.

I just want to confirm that it really worked well by creating the file half size and then printing it with 200% as PDF.

Looks good to me and is not only a workaround, but a real solution.

    Thanks to everybody!

I've now also added it to our knowledgebase.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

    Hi Anthony,

you might as well want to add, that sometimes the printer is the problem, not Xara ;-)
I got a call yesterday, that he could open the PDF, but not print it.
It seems it was just too big to rip and he got error messages all over.

As a quick shot - though of poor quality - I tried to export the file as TIF. But Xara would not let me do that (in this size).
After spending two hours at the printer without any success, I brought the file to another company, specialised in very large format printing.

Hope they can do it, my client would have needed it by noon today.

But once again, the PDF created by Xtreme looked very good on screen.
