    Default PDF printing

    Hi Folks,

    I am new to the printing field but now need to generate some newspaper ads. Of course I'm using my favourite program to create them but am having a few problems.

    The ads need to be exactly the right size (20 picas wide by 17 picas high). No problem getting the page size in Xara but when I try to print to the Acrobat PDF Writer the page size is always 8.5x11 and the orientation is always wrong.

    Could someone please help or point me to a good tutorial on this subject?

    Thanks very much,
    Cat =^..^=

    Catherina, you must specify the same size in your pdf printing program.
    Are you using Adobe Acrobat professional or any other kind of pdf printign driver?

    Anyway, you need to set the same size in your printing document (change it to custom and set the wanted size).

    I slept on it and solved my own problem. By exporting instead of printing I got EXACTLY what I needed!

    Who's a clever girl then? =^..^=

    Thanks for your help!

    If you mean you exported and used Xtreme's PDF output, then that's a good idea anyway as you'll get much better results than printing to Adobe.
    I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

    Catharina - It's been a long time!

    When you create a PDF file for printing, the printer will generally extract the ad from the PDF and place it in Quark or InDesign from where it will be output to film. So the page size is not important.

    But if you really want the page size to be a specific size, change the page size in Xara and then export your Xara PDF file.
