Ask Redmond, not that you're likely to get an answer.

Damn - my attempt to make a quiet comeback has been foiled.

That is a Xara error, so it's a fair question.

the problem was with UAC in vista, turnded it off and rebooted and xara works fine now. problem is that xara isnt digitaly signed so UAC prevents it from writing to to the registry.

Interesting. Was this after install? Because I couldn't get Xtreme to run with UAC on, per this article I wrote:

I'd be interested to hear how you got to that error, so I can modify that article if necessary.

    Thanks

    Thanks
i had turned UAC off b4 the install but never did a reboot,so every time i opened xxtreme and drew anything like a empty square the error would pop up then i would close xtreme and reopen and then the serial number had to rentered. with the uac on and the software not digitally signed it couldnt write to the registry, i was having a few other issues with vista when i decided to reboot and once i did everything went smooth. my brother in law couldnt even get Xtreme to install at all with the UAC on. once i figured it out he turned it off rebooted and a clean error free install was done with xtreme.

i did some searchs on google about install and the uac and it seems that all software needs to be digitally signed if you want to install it on vista with the UAC on.

UAC can be a good thing i guess but not for me.
