Question Xara Xtreme vs. Fireworks 8

In some ways both programs accomplish similar yet different goals regarding creation and modifications of graphics.

I really like the speed of Xara Xtreme vs. Fireworks and I believe I can accomplish everything I need with Xara Xtreme.

My question is how do I get instructions of how to use Xara Xtreme other than {F1-help}? I did download the 2 intoductory videos, but it was just an introduction and does nothing to instruct what Xara Xtreme is capable. When I look at the graphic arts work on these forums, there has to be some sort of instruction documentation whether in PDF format or otherwise to obtain the quality of 'art' produced by Xara Xtreme.

I am basically a web designer and not a graphic artist, so if I can just explore use the basics of Xara Xtreme and pass the "modified graphics" to someone who really is a talented graphic artist, I will be happy.

The problem being at this time, without the basic instructions of how to use Xara Xtreme, I am basically using this program by trial and error. At present I am able to do more with 'Fireworks' only because I can find more tutorial information on the web on 'Fireworks'. Any help on where to find application tutorial on Xara Xtreme will be helpful.

I only have 12 more days on Xara Xtreme. I don't mind buying the program, but at this time without a tutorial to explore the basics of Xara Xtreme, I'm stuck with using Fireworks. (Please note I am presently using both trial of Xara Xtreme and Fireworks before committing to purchase any product.)

Check out http://www.eclecticacademy.com, there is a Xara class starting September 10th. It costs $20 and will get you started. I took the class and it really helped.

Maybe what Gary has complied is being ignored over someone who can market it to people. Many people believe that anything free cannot be as good as what they pay for.

Not true at all in this case.

Thumbs up Re: Xara Xtreme vs. Fireworks 8

To Soquili, Grace and Sally.. Thank you for your help in getting me started
This link below is just what I need to get me started
    http://www.xaraxone.com/html/workbook.html

I have to admit after seeing some of the artistic talents from some of the artists, I am no where in their league However, to accomplish the task which allows me to get the elementary basics done is something I can work with and will try with the 11 days remaining.

Thank you again for all your help.. and yes, the quality of the tutorials even though it is FREE IS EXCELLENT!

Using something like Xtreme is a learning process. There is a lot you can do, and it takes time to pick it all up. Although you may not design like the greats who have created amazing things with Xtreme and its predecessors (but then most of us can't) you'll find that it does have something for everyone.

Eleven days is quite a short time, and remember that if you buy the product not only is it a great price but it comes with a 30 day money back guarantee. Furthermore, the retail version comes with a shortcut card, all tutorial movies (so you can watch them all without downloading) and a complete archive of the Xara Xone. You can even purchase the manual if you want it. So purchasing it will allow you to get into the program better.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

A really nice feature of Xara Xtreme is the fantastic color handling together with named colors. In this post you'll find an example how to use this feature, in order to try different color variations for a web page.

    Regards,
    Remi
