Textures Question

Wow, thanks so much for all the great ideas. I've saved the entire page to print and give them all a try.
I really like a solid fill to make a seamless tile, but also like to have some texture in it without losing the original color....looks like I'll be able to do that after some study of these suggestions.

A much simpler way is to apply a bitmap fill and then apply colour to it.

Draw a square
Select bitmap fill
Click on the fill handle. The center box
Select a colour from the colour line
Select the outer box from the fill gadget and apply the second colour.
