Why xara does not have the file-open-(list of files that were previously opened)?
I get annoyed when the deafault directory always shows up and I have to search for the last file i opened?

It does. Only not under File > Open.
Click on File, at the bottom of the drop-down menu you will see a list of the last four files you worked on.

If you want more than 4 recent files to show in the menu you can increase the number on the Options General tab.

Utilities Menu > Options Recent File list size is at the top of the General tab.
