Default PDF Gotcha with Arrow Heads/Tails

    Hi there,
I make cave maps with Xtreme and I use lots of closed lines when I draw rocks and boulders. The final map is converted to a PDF. Recently I came across a gotcha. To check this:

    1. Set up your drawing conditions so that an arrow head is selected.
    2. Draw an open line. The line gets an arrow head, OK?
3 Draw a closed line. The line does not get an arrow head, OK?
    So far so good.
    4 Export to PDF.
    5 Look at PDF.
BOING! GOTCHA. Both open and closed lines have arrowheads!!!!
6 The same effect occurs with tails.

When you have dozens of closed lines in your drawings this can come as a nasty surprise.

    Comments are welcome.

It seems, this is a bug in the PDF export filter.

If you print the drawing with a PDF printer driver, the generated PDF is correct.

Couldn't duplicate it, maybe I'm doing something different.

    jamesmc,
    please see attached files.

Arrowhead1 is setting up in Xtreme.
Arrowhead 2 is PDF result in Reader.
    Arrowhead3 is real life example.

I think we know about this one and I think it's being addressed in the next release of the PDF filter.

It happens because these closed paths still have arrowheads on them in Xara. It's just that PDF displays arrow heads on closed paths, and Xara does not. Which is right and which is wrong? It just that they take different decisions.

So the simple solution to solve this is to select all the shapes that have the problem and make sure they have no arrow heads in Xara (it will look the same in Xara, but will now show correctly in PDF). Hope that helps.
