There are many ways to adapt photos to change them into another style of art. This is yet another way I found in Xara Xtreme to do it. It's not necessarily the best, just different and fun!
1. Load photo into Xara Xtreme
2. Click on Photo
3. Navigate to Utilities>Xara Picture Editor
4. Select 3D Bump Map
5. On 3D Bump Map Controls, Select Gray Color
6. Save your image and name it Bushgrey or whatever.
7. Close 3D Bump Map
8. Select Photo
9. Navigate to Utilites>Bitmap Tracer.
10. Choose Monochrome.
11. Click Trace.
12. Click Insert.
13. Load your 3D Bump Map (the grey image) into Xara.
14. You should have the original photo, the 3D Bump Map and the
monochrome traced image.
15. Select the monochrome traced image.
16. Click transparency button>Flat>Stained Glass.
17. Then reset the transparency back to 0 (opaque.)
18. You now have an image that can be used as a mask (save this mask if
you wish for future use)
19. Align carefully the monochrome traced image over the 3D bump map.
20. Click on the monochrome traced image and give it more transparency
or until you are satisfied with the results.
BTW, that little white spot anomaly located on the face of the
monochrome traced image can be fixed quite easily. Just add a shape
to cover it or whatever method you choose to use.
Just a fun thing to do and a quick solution for making unusual art.
