Making the image larger then reducing it will not help. The problem is there are only so many pixels to create the text. This is not going to change.

There are some bitmap fonts which are designed to read clearly at small sizes. You can find bitmap fonts at DaFont.com > Bitmap Fonts.

There are also 2 or 3 bitmap fonts in the Xara Xone Shareware Page. These fonts need to be used at the size they were designed. If you make them larger or smaller you will loose the effect.

I believe it will help *slightly* for the method I outlined, as that method gives the sharpening algorithm a little more accuracy to work with initially. I have not tested this assumption with anything other than the fact that I believe the jpgs I posted are a little easier to read <or rather, darker and a little crisper in the text areas>, but it makes programming sense.

Of course you are correct in that it won't help if you just make it bigger and then only resize it smaller.

    Hi

Just save the world from an absorbatron ....

Just had a quick trial with exporting to another program and then resizing as suggested and it works very well.

    Thanks

    Hi Ian,
The other thing that I would suggest is to get rid of the brushes which are used in the left hand shield. Make sure that the brush selected is not the one shown but the one called normal. Also in the same area inside the circle the waves should be drawn as a rectangle the hold down ctrl + Shift and S then modify the rectangle with the shape editor tool so that it fits the circle. If you want a hand to do this just give us a shout as I will be back to the forum later.
The very small picture here shows what you have selected

Select the text object, then right-click the black color swatch.
