Thumbs up Re: still unfinished work

    Outstanding.

What kind of file did you give to the printer? And were there any special requirements?

I still preffer clasic way of creating design (working direct in CMYK space my projects) and clasic way of preparing (pre-press) for print - CMYK TIFF with all vector data over it

all text data, logos, vector objects without transp etc. export like CMX to Corel or Ai/EPS to Illustrator

all other transparencies (incl objects under transp), blurs, bevels, shadows etc (all non postcript compatible object) export like CMYK TIFF from xara, but sometimes best results are first to convert to bitmap (without print preview) in xara and then to export like CMYK TIFF
Convert to bitmap and export to TIFF is on 400dpi

Then this two parts (Tiff and vectors) I combine in Corel or Illustrator and after creating of print form -> print with postcript printer (*.PPD) to Postcript file wich is suitable for Exponator or our CTP

I try many times to do all this direct from Xara, but Im not satisfied from results with imported or created in Xara bitmaps... the colors are something over this that must be...
Just for vector works - without bevels transp, shadows - Xara can be used for direct prepress and expo of files to offset press with good quality and color reproduction*

*printpreview of Xara is not so good, must be used color chart table when you assign colors - especialy in dark and complex tones

    Cool Re:

jclements, dont be angry on me... but I think that something like this is real mess and it is overburdened :\

you didnt miss a color from color line

My opinion is that like parents we are responsible to explain to our children what is good, nice, stylish etc. and give them sence for beauty and stylish!

Like designers some of us has the same responsibility to educate the same things with our works for clients and generally verbal with people who see our products, packages, logos, bilboards, posters etc etc etc

    Best regards

    M:

    Not angry at all.

This lesson was designed by her school to:
    1. get kids to explore and be creative without being inhibited or restricted by an adult (parents were asked not to "butt-in").
    2. a lesson on nutrition and how to read package labeling.

I opened up Xara, showed Kaitie (9 years old at the time) examples from this forum, the Xara tools, and the Clipart Gallery and let her compose things on her own. If she couldn't draw things on her own she would tell me what to draw. She would pick the colors and then we would apply them. The above image represents four sides of the make-believe cereal box. Her classmates thought it was fun and "cool" :-} By the way, she dresses like this too, mixes colors and patterns randomly; don't know where she gets it from, her mom and I are both dress pretty conservatively.

    Regards, John
