    Red face Griffin wanted

    Ok I Know ! but ...

Spent all day copying a shield for a web site- my first major project in Xara.

No real problem thanks to various help received. I know need a "griffin" .

Ok I have found a bit map which of course is non sizable and if I scan the original it's rubbish.

So is there anywhere that does vector clip art ? I have corel but they all seem to be bitmaps.

    cheers

Most of the artwork on the web will be bitmaps, unless it is flash or some other vector based application.

The people of the U.K. and other European countries are big users of griffon-lion looking things in their heraldry. You may want to try some heraldry sites.

Of course, you could use Merv Griffon, but I'm not sure you were trying to achieve the rounded-face millionaire look.

I recently needed a 'lion passant' and found this:
    www.heraldicclipart.com/
Good clean images that are easy to trace with the shape editor tool. Only problem is that there doesn't seem to be an index - maybe I missed it.....

On Corel draw ver 7 clipart, Family tree/ Animals. there are a bunch of shields with griffins on them. Open them with Corel draw, then copy (ctrl+c) and paste (crtl+v) into Xara.

I could let you have a copy of the one I used here if you like.

Be warned though it is a bitmap. In fact it's a scan of the badge from the front of a car, so there may well be copyright issues, depending on what you had in mind for it.

Thanks one and all for the help.

I'm doing a web site for the sea cadets (freebee) and the griffin on the shield is "en passant"

    Fun aint it.
