    Default add/subtract/intersect/slice

Can someone define the actions for me.

Add seems selfevident as does subtract but isn't slice the same as slice?

    thanks

LOL slice is indeed the same as slice!

Intersect is where two things overlap and leaves the shape formed by the overlapping sections.

Just draw out a few shapes and apply the operations to them, then you'll see exactly how they work. Just play away!

< but isn't slice the same as slice?>

    Hi Ian

I just joined the forum today, one of the reason for doing so was to reply to you specifically. When I first bought Xara I didn't understand anything about it, played with the quickshapes for a few days and then completely lost interest in the program for about 6 months. On day, I drew a square, drew and eclipse, added the two together and found that subtract was basically the same, and once that clicked in the old defective brain things just went forward from there on. But I never understood intersect...................until

Open a picture or photograph in your program, put any shape on it, (for example, a photo of a person, draw a circle around the face), select both items and intersect and bingo, what you did was to crop your picture, so you should have just the face in circular form. If you slice, the whole photo will still be visable but you can select just the face and drag it to some other body. Soooooo, intersect is what most call cropping as far as I am concerned. Even if this is not correct, think like this and you won't go wrong.

    Hope this helps a bit

If you still need help with these "path commands" see Workbook 35 - Xara's Path Commands which also includes two additoional path commands, Join Shapes and Apply ClipView.
