Another simple one ? re bevals

Am trying to get on peoples wavelengths.

If I have a rectangle that I'm using in a web design as a divider to fill a line ie repeat the image along the x axis I will have a requirment for a bevel on the top and bottom edges.

Similarly the curved graphic in my previous question will be the left and right ends of the line they will need a bevel on top/botom and on the curved edge.

Question is how to I create a bevel on specific edges I thought of creating a bevel on all edges and then putting another layer on top to "hide" the unwanted bevel.

Is there a better and easier way?

1. you could simply draw the bevels
2. you could do this: Make the bevel. Draw a rectangle to cover the unwanted section. Use Arrange, Combine, Subtract. OR even slice.

How about a curved bevel? On the attached file I will need bevels on all but the left hand side

And another method:

Set the grid to 10 pixels, subdivision 1. Apply Snap to Grid

Create a rectangle 400 x 40 pixels.

Whichever is your prefered method, round the left hand corner.

Clone and flip horizontally.

Move this well to the right.

Select both shapes, Arrange / Combine Shapes / Add Shapes

Apply the bevel of choice, but ensure it's in a whole pixel size, not a fraction.

Now create a SQUARE over the left side. Set fill and outline to none. Create a bitmap copy. Repeat for right side. Repeat for centre.

You now have 3 bitmaps to apply to an html table. The middle bitmap can expand as required.

I;m going to appear thick now.

In the instructions it says Now "create a square" I assume this means using the rectangle tool?

I set the fill and outline to none so effectivly I see nothing on the screen.

If I then select arrange -- create bit map copy I get the export screen which shows nothing

Yes, the rectangle tool. You can create the square by holding down the Ctrl key whilst dragging.

In the export bitmap screen in the Colour Depth drop down, select True Colour. You'll see the underlying shape.

Egg, i just tried your method, when i got to this:
Clone and flip horizontally.

Move this well to the right.

Select both shapes, Arrange / Combine Shapes / Add Shapes

it didn't work - Intersect Shapes DID work
