I miss my old camera and equipment, was stolen by the movers in my last trip from Germany. Miss my macros and 1000mm lens the most.
Extremely well exposed pictures.
I never got that creative, but did a lot of work with old documents concerning hand writing analysis/interpretation. (Zzzz factor.)
Well JamesMC,
Sorry to hear about your camera. I am getting more expirence on settings. I was trying total manual to improve the depth of field. I have to be fairly close with the shield on the flash. It keeps me from getting strong highlights, though. I have had problems with light butterflies on a dark background. The butterfly always gets blownout. Same with dragonflies. Learning to read the ituation helps.
A macro of a butterfly wing with a little Painter watercolour brushing.

ohh, all well done-Rich. I think you have improved you depth of field! These are all nicely crisp focus....how did you get the bee-one in flight? I'm going to try to look up bug #46 to see if it's a moth or butterfly
jamesmc...I think I got it--linguistics and handwriting analysis = working in_____

Nance,
I was using the 100mm macro lens in manual focus. The exposure was manual at F11 & 125 with the 580EX flash. The flash had a translucent white shield.
The bee was in hover mode. I was able to focus and get the shot. About 10 inches fron the front of the lense.
Rich
ahh, ok, the bee was hovering. I just couldn't figure out how you could get such a shot while it was flying (contemplative smilie)
fortunately I found your #46 in my butterfly book cuz I'm helplessly without a clue otherwise. Veined White. in the family of Whites and Sulfurs (butterfly). thanks for sharing

The wall we have been building under the tree house. The drawing was much easier than carying the stones up the hill. Rich
