Problem with Better Clouds (Workbook 3)

As a new user of Xara Xtreme, I'm trying to go through all the workbooks to learn the product. When I get to Step 8 and go to ARRANGE, but BREAK SHAPES is grayed out (unavailable).

I've started over from the beginning, and everything works fine up to, but not including Step 8.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I stumbled throught those clouds a while back as well........seems a slight change is needed for Xtreme users.......works for me anyway.

Without looking, I wonder if you need to Ungroup and then Break Shapes?

This happens frequently.

Or this might be a possiblility. If you are cutting out a section of the shape, make sure you have cut out the whole shape. If even a thin line remains, you will not be able to break shapes.

Thanks Gary. I found that at the beginning of step 8, I need to:

1. Re-Select the shape,
2. Ungroup, and then
3. Break Shapes

Then I could Select the inside portion and delete.
