Default Artworks-> Xara -> Xara Xtreme LX

    Hello to you all,

    I have a question...
Once upon a time there was the ARM Acorn platform that had the excelent program called !Draw, then there came a program called !Artworks which extended !Draw...

Then they moved to the MS-Windows platform and called themselfes Xara and now we have:
Xara Xtreme LX, what happend to all those nice features !Draw and !Artworks had.
    The isometric grid?
    Middle mouse butten menu?

That part of the software must stil be around somewhere?

    Regards,

Artworks didn't really "extend" Draw, it was a completely new program with
completely new source code, from different authors (Draw was Acorn, Artworks was Computer Concepts). Artworks was written in assembler, Xara Xtreme (originally Xara Studio) in C++ by CC's sister company Xara (many of the same programmers, ideas, data structures, but none of code base). XaraLX thus shares a code with Xtreme, but not Artworks (or for that matter draw).

Middle-button menus were an Acorn UI specific thing (no menu bar). However, Xtreme has a menu bar and context-sensitive right-button menus which are the approximate equivalent. Context sensitive right buttons menus should also be on LX, though they aren't (they haven't yet been ported, but the code is there).

The Isometric grid in Xtreme can be accessed through the "Options" dialog (grid tab). It will be present in LX as well when someone gets around to porting the options dialog.

Ok, my fault. But then again Artworks could a lot more than Draw could. ARM assembler and the SWI's made it quite easy to program in assembler :-D

Hmmm you say there is a lot of unported code, who is going to port the code? The comunity or the people at Xara?

Both Xara and community people are working on it. Xara can't do it only by themselves (or rather they could but it would take a very long time). The more community help we have the faster the port will happen, the sooner we can start adding features, and the sooner the whole community has a better graphics product.
