    Hi,

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'll probably rethink and start again. But in the meantime I have amended this attempt and thought I'd just let you see where I've got to.
By the way the "Designer" refers to my being a needlework designer.

    Ummm... Carol,

Then most definently spell it out, unless you want to design logos, and bridges and etc... I would nver have guessed a needlework designer.

Well, now that I see the shadow, it really looks like a knitting needle but I agree with John boy, this should be made a bit more clear.

    Like "<span class="ev_code_RED">Custom Needlework Designs by Carol A. Leather</span>"

    Just an idea mind you............

My thoughts, for what it's worth :-)
    Hi Carol.
Since the name of your company is X-Calibre Designs, and your name is on the card, you could eliminate the CAL and explore X-Caliber Design. Perhaps using the I's as needles or perhaps crossed needles for the X.
Or as Gary suggested, you might explore the shadow coming off the L as a needel, tapered at the bottom. You have a great start and I do hope that you will post your final design as I really enjoy these kind of posts.

    Hi,

Tim thanks for sparking my imagination! I scrapped the first attempt and started again. I played on the crossed needles idea but swapped one needle for a sword (Excalibur itself). The "pattern" on the sheild is supposed to represent two things, our rural location and that many of my needlework designs are on a nature type theme.

Is this perhaps heading in a more sensible direction?

    Hi Carol,

What is a needle without thread? How about a cross stitch shield with two needles crossed below the shield. See below...

Carol, this looks really great. Tim's idea is a good one for sure.

I would change that other object (the sword?) to another needle. I'm not sure about John's suggestion, I like the simplicity of the shield quite a bit!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    My thoughts...

Much prefer your latest one Carol. I must admit I spent too long trying to fathom what was going on in the first ones.

The latest one is much clear in terms of company name and what you do (really important things!).

The logo is interesting... I wonder if maybe you could sum it up in a simpler way, a needle and thread being the most obvious choice.

But all in all, I like the last one best. And remember you have to just decide what you want in the end, or you'll be listening to us all forever. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I think you'll know it when you're really happy with it deep down.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

    Hi Carol,

instead of a shield... how about a pin cushion with the design embroidered?
