    Default Color Editor

Pardon my question, I am trying to do the Jan 97 tutorial and found myself stuck at entering values inside the color editor. The color editor seems to work in percentages rather than values like the tutorial asks for. Is there a way (I can;t seem to find it) to change it so that it works with direct value (aka: R=255 G=204 B=51) instead of percentages? I tried typing in the values and gave me a totally different color than what's suppose to happen (thinking that maybe it convert the value to a percentage upon leaving that field). Thanks for the help

    Ace,

Try Utilities>Options>Units and change Color Units to 0-255. See if that works for you.

I sent an email to Gary about the very same thing.

It would be great in tips, Gary, what do you think?

Well, I'll be.... I've been using Xara since the days when Charles M. delivered the software on his bike and I never noticed that option!

Sally - Just before the first frame of every tutorial, at least the ones that have been done in the last 2-3 years, is a few paragraphs of text that explain how to set the color units to 0-255, and how to set the rulers to pixels. There are also links in these newer tutorials to the Workbooks for a quick intro to the basics.

Well I skim until I get to the part I am interested in. So my apologies. I assumed I was past the basics.

    Hey Sally,

It's the basics that kick the masters in the tail most of the time. I have been working with xara for about 10 years, and Gary still pulls some basic thing out of his bag o tricks and waps me upside the head with it in every tut. That is why they are worth reading...

All right, I've been thoroughly chastised. I have hit myself with a wet noodle, no one of Gary's worms.
