How to make this effect?

Hey, people =) I just found this site and I think it's great!

Welllll... I've been looking for a tut to make this kind of effect (look here: http://img349.imageshack.us/img349/1...seffect0ej.jpg).

Can anybody give me some directions or a tut-link? It would mean the WORLD to me! <3

I'm not sure which effect you're after. If it's the rainbow of colours, I'd select the image, make a new layer on top of it, keeping the selection, and flood-fill with a gradient.

Then I'd lower the transparency of the new layer until it looked right, merge the layers and save.

What was said about the gradient is true on a new layer and then control the merge modes and transparency that way, but the color also fades which would require a mask with a fading gradient of white to black to be used.

Its the pic of the girl, (this Is made In PS I can tell, I make sigs like this all the time)
What they do Is put the girl on white background, add some stars, then put a gradient layer of a rainbow, and then put It on screen so It barly shows up.

Ive got other effects on It as well but Its the same basic principal.
Not sure If ya can do It In PSP, I have It but I dont use It often anymore, not sicne I got PS

Indeed I see there a picture with at leats 2 different things:

* The stars are brushes

2-The color its a gradient overlayed.

you can get an effect very similar to that by using colorave atmosphere plugin ....
