    Default Anti-aliasing question

Is it possible in Xara Xtreme to selectively forbid certain objects to be anti-aliased? This could be rather useful in case one is trying to use pixel fonts. As well as for displaying edgy straight borders etc.

No, it's not possible. I wish it were.

Anything is possible with software -- especially, it seems, for Xara Ltd! I'd accept that it might not be possible with the current version of Xtreme, though

With the fonts created by and techniques described by Sean Sedwards here about 3 years ago, yes you can do it with text.

I have tried to find his original messages but I can't, nor can anyone contact him. His fonts were shareware but I don't know how to get in touch with him if you use them and wish to register them. I presume Gary has them linked from his shareware page:

    Exclamation Re: Anti-aliasing question

This is a wild guess, but here goes:

Since Live Effects can be assigned to specific objects, I wonder if a
"NO ANTIALIAS" pluggin could be written?

I would image all it would have to do is create a live, "bitmap" shell of the object. If that object was text, then it would be displayed as a bitmap, at a resolution specified by the user, but it would be fully editable with the text tool.

**Perhaps someone at Xara could confirm if this is possible (Anthony)**.
If so, anywone with experience writing PlugIns want to give it a try?

I'm not good on the techy side. But a bitmap for text would be rather bulky.

    Hi Anthony:

Since the primary issue with text is SMALL text antialiasing, then perhaps it wouldn't be too bulky?
