I have just discovered that you cant use a simple fill and a repeating fill in the same brush.

Example below - not the brush I was trying to create but a simple example to show the problem.

If someone else could test this I would appreciate knowing it is not just me/my PC.

Haven't tried that one, but you might convert the repeating fill to a bitmap? Or make the simple fill repeating as well but not have it repeat?

    Hello Christine,

it is not an error but a limitation of the program. As Gary says it you could change one of the fills to a bitmap. Another idea is using two or more superposed brushes.
There are some other limitations in brushes. For example you cannot use feathered objects, or other kind of transparencies than mix or stained glas for included objects. But if you use these transparencies or feathering they come again after converting the line to shape!
I think these limitations avoid to increase exponentially the weight of the brush, but perhaps in the future some new algorithms will permit that!

    Kind regards,

    iva

    Hello Christine,

I have tried and it works now for me. I am sure I had the problem in the past with NT4, perhaps it's solved with Win2K???

Perhaps could you load the file and see if it works on your system. Everybody may try too of course!

Ivan's brush works fine on my Window ME machine. But when I try to recreate the effect it turns out like Christine's. I also get the same results on my Win2K machine.

Ivan I think you'll find that if you enlarge the line it is actually repeating the fill. It does not show a lot because the fill starts right at the edge of the shape.

It's not a major problem just inconvenient. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't me/my pc.
