girls & guys,

the new version of the best mail program in this world (absolutely
immune against viruses, vbs and/or other malicious attachments) has
just been released:

http://www.pmail.com/downloads_maine_t.htm

Don't give intruders, hackers and virus coders a chance - abandon MS
software now and switch to the fastest, most secure and simple to use
mailer no money can get! (It's freeware!)

Have a great weekend,

when you say immune against viruses, I assume you still need a virus checker to scan for viruses in attachments before you open them in case they attack other parts of your computer.
I have downloaded a copy of the program and will check it out,
thanks for the info,

Yea, does it not even let virus infected e-mails be sent to your address?

Steve,

no, it doesn't have a viruse blocker, but it doesn't execute any files where you set the flag 'warn'. there is already a long list with 'dangerouse' file extensions integrated, and you can add whatever you want.

However, you can configure it that way that it will dl all mails, check them against your filter rules and delete i.e. all mails that don't have your e-mail address in the 'to' or 'cc' field. Very handy feature (general rule set for new mail folder).

Of course it's always good to have a virus scanner installed, but at least this mailer does NOT open any attachment automatically like the MS Outlook etc.

If you've downloaded a file like 'illustration.jpg.vbs' and want to open it, Pegasus will refuse to execute the file. This is the best feature I've ever experienced on the market.

The spam filter is fantastic. It filters out approximately 50 to 60 mails per day from all of my mail accounts and deletes them automatically. Dangerous attachment will get a flag to show you that there is something cookin in your in-basket.

Forget the bug infested MS stuff if you want to be on the safe side.

Jens is absolutely right about avoiding MS software. I really don't know why so many people use it unless its because it's installed when they get their PCs.

In addition to this of course, they don't know any different. An aquaintance of mine said recently that he had a funny effect on his PC about three months ago in that his email program suddenly up and sent to everyone in his address book!

I obviously advised him to update his virus defs and do a scan to sort out his PC but I've no great hope of anything being done. Its this apathetic attitude which helps to spread viruses more than anything else.

Just my thoughts on the subject. Incidentally I use Eudora Pro 5.1.

I use both Pegasus and Outlook Express but have a Spam and Virus trapping service on my e-mail through my ISP. Works great.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded the software and it seems to be working.
My question - How do I find and remove the VBS virus?

Thanks for your help

If you're not a programmer, just uninstall this creep called Visual Basic Scripting Host or Tool or something like that. When it smells a VBS, it just charges at it and executes it without your consent.

and read the article "Windows really hidden files" foundhere

second hand PII machines are really cheap now, and Mandrake Linux is temptingly easy to install...

Could you please send me a personal email. I am considering a new ISP and am interested your opinions about the one you use or others I might look at.

As you can see I did use Teleport, but since they were bought-out I have not been happy with the service now available.

Regards,
