I just spent part of the afternoon improving a picture I had previously posted in the Gallery.

I wish I had a tool so that the magnifying glass really magnifies. That way I could place it over the text of the letter.

Anyone knows a tool, plugin filter etc. that magnifies whatever is behind/under?

Simply place your cursor in the part of the text that will be magnified and drag it to select just that part. Now increase the font size of the selected text.

I have also given an example of magnifying part of a bitmap. Duplicate your magnifying object and then select it and the filled object you want to magnify and go Arrange/Convert to Editable Shapes/ Slice.
Now enlarge the fill by tapping on the right arrow key after selecting the right arrow on the fill control.

    Hope this helps.

Good solution Judi. But not the way I would do it. It always amazes me how we all do the same thing differently.

I would make a duplicate, (say the text for example) enlarge it, and use a duplicate circle and Combine Shapes > Intersect Shapes. Then place the intersected text over the glass portion.

Think I posted the early version. Here is the finished (for now) animation.

Wayne -- Circular Envelope. Great idea.

Roman -- Too much distortion. If you make a square about 2 times larger than the glass, add a Circular Envelope, then crop to the size of the round lens, the text will not be as distorted.

Ric -- I loved it the first time I saw it, and I love it again. Only suggestion I could make is to make the glass a bit lighter overall or apply a gradient transparency so there appears to be some light reflecting off the glass.

    Ric,

Yeah, I saw it in the other thread too and it rocks!! I find the drop shadows on the text a little too dark, though.
If you look at the time stamp on our posts, I think dmagician and I were thinking (and probably doing) the same thing with the envelope mould. Was the text enveloped in yours "magic"?

Gary, you're a glass act!! I still have to polish mine a little more.
