I didn't know which forum this question belongs too, so I'm trying the most active one!

How can I pixel-crop whole AVI files? I don't have any fancy, expensive video editing sofware, are there any easy, cheap shareware apps you know of which can do this?

    Thanks!

You can do it from the "open" dialogue, or by using the crop tool when opened. The cropping is global. I hasten to add, Photopaint sometimes balks at opening certain codecs.

Dave and Wayne, thanks! Will look into both of these avenues. I have the aging PP8 - but I seem to recall it had AVi Open command?

allows for you to process your movie as if it were a still image. From cropping, resizing, reducing color palettes, etc. It is great for getting a 24 bit AVi dow to a 256 optimized color movie. It has selectable scaling algorithms so you're not stuck with only one method of scaling.

It has image batch processing so you can select a whole bunch of images (with different file formats) and can output to one file format and write them out with sequential numbered files. Great for photoshows. I am still using a 5 year old version and hear the new one is 100x better.

I also use it to process hundreds of images when I want to reduce the bit depth in one shot without messing up the original.

I use it for my video editing and still image manipulation.

Thanks, Milt, I may check it out one of these days - I have heard of it often, but never tried it. But my ageing PhotoPaint 8 did the trick for me this time around.
