I am new to XaraX and just realized there doesn't seem to be a spell checker?
Is there any plug in for this, or how do others handle it, other then being a good speller or pasting into the program?

Hello doane,
You are correct, there is no spell checker - or a plug-in for it. Xara X is primarily an illustration tool, so I'm not sure how necessary it would be to have one.
However, you can always type up what you need in your favourite office app. - copy the whole thing - and paste it into Xara X (unformatted text option.)
Once you have the text in there, you can manipulate it anyway you wish.
