Thread: tools in xara

Availor did you download the pc or mac version?
don`t know whats going on there, if you
want I can post you it on cd from here OZ.

Here are my graphy line samples I just did,
I`m trying to select the black lines,
I can select the lines, but
    change their
    thickness
    and colour,
    can this be done now?

Ive already figured out how to create the symmetry, you right click, select duplicate or copy then press flip horizontal,
then move the selection into place to match
    the other side.
but I would still like a tool to draw the other side while I draw one side, saves me time in the long term and allows me accurate mirroring of objects, that way I can to my hearts joy and content create organic swirls curls and symettrical objects that are mirrored to the other side and watch them all unfold in real time.

also STILL want a dialogue box that allows me to create shortcuts for all of Xaras tools,
like you can in expression or 3dsmax.
nothing like your own shortcut combo`s to make
    a tool your own.
    PALEEEZ, IM BEGGIN NOW.

    this tool is heaps cool.

mentioning radio ads John imagine bringing
music into Xara and applying mathematical fractal formulas that you could tweak to create your own procedural or vectoral inamated patterns, just like the windows media player
does for music now. only create our own unique designs. can you do that for us??
    just suggestions http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

also I wanted to change the colour and
width of individual lines once Ive created
these grid curves, is that possible?
it would allow great creative freedom and
    brainstorm flow,
I also wanted to be able to select the shadow
only and adjust its Shape independantly of the lines. I can adjust its color independantly but
not its shape. I cant seem to adjust the gridcurves Colour either after Ive created
    and duplicated them

I was hoping to be able to individually choose
some of its lines through multiple select by shift clicking the lines, and warp them or colour them differently.

I also wanted to be able to create more shadows
of the Same grid curves, but it only lets you
create on set of shadows when you go back to use the shadow tool.

    sincerely
    Mark

Nice work Mark, I would like to see the completed feature http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

About the Software: I've downloaded PC version... and I don't think you would post it to Israel http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/tongue.gif

Maybe there is another link to that, or you can transfer me the setup file If you have the time (I've got 1 GB mail I work with: Availor@Walla.com )

    Thanks http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    iHuman
am learning how to do gridcurves.
and not press "postnow" before Im finished
as in the last drawing of curves hence I didnt
    finish my sentence,
they are a step by step "sort of" how I
    created the curves.
I learnt how to make the curves coloured, in the
edit colour palette, choose local line colour.

but I`d still like to be able
    1. create a blend, and adjust each lines individual colour,
    2. And create multiples of the shadow and
move the shadow around independant of the object lines so I can warp and change the perspective of the shadow from the object lines.
they only seem to work together right now.
good for logical thinkers, but Im creating art
    here, not reality.

availor Im going to sleep soon here
    in oz,
I can post you the cd, dont worry about the
costs, its only a few dollars, just nobody
    else ask!!
maybe your file download became corrupted,
I think mine did the first time I downloaded it.
try again to download it, if it doesnt work
I`ll send you the file, just send us your
    mail address to sparkeemarkie@yahoo.com

you may have to wait 2 or 3 weeks for it though
because I`m sending it regular mail.

here is how you make grid curves in expression
You set these up by selecting two paths, calling up the new Effect Lines palette and then controlling how many lines to add between the two paths, their clustering, spacing, width and start and end edges. Creature House is pushing the feature for setting up Manga-style comic book action lines, but they are useful for much more than this. In particular the ability to replace the default straight lines with template paths and then to apply any skeletal stroke to your effect lines opens up enormous creative potential.

heres a website with expression tutorials,
heres one on creating reflection maps in expression.
    http://northlite.50megs.com/expr/j-refmaps.html

here you can see the expression variable width palette that allows you to adjust the stroke after youve drawn it on the fly, its width variability shape along the whole path, and also the size of the stroke with the node stick at its end which looks like a stick with a circle on its end.

the second picture posted is the stroke definition box where you can draw a line, then adjust its shape and drag out a stroke definition box over it and adjust it somemore and save as a new brushstroke. infinite variations of the one stroke can be created this way.

but the one thing expression doesnt have
that xara has it the ability to make
a stroke into a shape. or a fill I presume
    that means ?
