How do you unselect an object

Hello,
I am getting to grips with Xara slowly but one thing I have not worked out yet is how to unselect an object other than clicking on a blank part of the page.Sometimes in close-up there is nowhere to click and I have to scroll to a blank part of the page.

I am sure there is a simple answer to this but it evades me at the moment.

Press Escape key.

Yes, Escape will deselect everything.

Some other alternatives are:
* Turn the display quality down to outline mode because that makes the blank page visible. This is a very useful trick in lots of situations where it's difficult to select the objects you want.

* Shift-click the selected object. (Shift-clicking toggles the selection on and off.)
