And Gary, you have a twisted mind. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

Sigh, I guess I'll have to wait until I learn more about Xara, or I COULD go into Photoshop and try that liquid effect.

care to do a mini tutorial on your technique, I'm all eyes

I liked Maya's and Steve later efforts as well, but Su, man o man that looks really realistic!!!

Also you have to remember that it depends on what is burning for hotter, whiter areas in fire, or low extra hot blues. Certain woods, plastic, cloth. A wick in candles all burn slightly different depending on the type of wax and what's mixed into the wax. Different substances burn differently.

I posted a link over at www.photoshoptechniques.com (where the original fire pic come from). It will be interested to see what if they enter the fray.

Ok a mini tutorial, coming up soon, I've started it and I will post it in a new thread to save bandwidth on this one.

Your fire is next to perfect, but I would like to the text "FIRE" brightened up a bit (perhaps with the same trick I gave Steve?). And a mini tut would be great too (I hope your technique is easy - I have found myself to be quite lazy )

I don't think the technique will be that hard. I think I found the technique or part of it, but could not get it looking as great as Su's! But I'll leave it up her, but don't fear
