I do the graphic by Xara X and using CMYK color model, after exported to Tiff and open it with Photoshop 7 the color is not the same as original.

Example. make one squre with color C20 Y40 and when open in photoshop it will be C34 Y32 which it is very far from reallity.

Do we have any way or any plug in to make photoshop read the right CMYK from Xara X??? I really need help from anyone.

You might try Brian Etherington's "RGB 2 CMYK" freeware utility. You can find it in the XaraXone on the Shareware page.

RGB2CMYK will accurately convert RGB values back to the original Pantone CMYK numeric colour definitions. For all other colour definitions the RGB to CMYK conversion used is a common one and maximises the Key Colour Value. So it really depends what your starting colour definitions are. If they are not PANTONE colours then RGB2CMYK will probably be no better/worse than other conversion filters. However, if your starting point is PANTONE then the numeric conversion will be good.

Every application has different ways of specifying colors.

Even though the CMYK values are different, the actual color may be the same.

There is another free utility on the
Xara Xone Shareware Page x-Port CMYK created by Sean Sedwards that can convert a Xara TIFF to CMYK. It is about 1/2 way down the page.

First... If you plan to export your graphics to other graphics app and work with it in CMYK, you must change color model of your template.... you must predefinate color gallery (F9) manualy in CMYK color model, becouse by default nevermind what color model you prefere in options the colors in color gallery are in HSV model !!!!

Atached file is A4 Xara template with predefined colors!!! Download it, open, and save it as template!

Second... if you do not have transperencies, shadows, direct gradient fills, bevels and etc.. you can use Xara X EPS format for export your graphics, with this template, colors are the same!

Third... way to export gradient fills in EPS... you must make gradient fill by blend...
Example: blend square object to square object from one to other color, then intersect blend with custom shape that you want to fill with gradient, and voala, this is exportable with exact colors http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Fourth... If you want to export graphics with transparencies, bevels, shadows, and etc bitmap and vector efects...the only correct way is with turned on "show printer colors" to export your graphics like Tiff, PNG with transp. or BMP to other app, where you can aplly CMYK color, the color changes are minimal...

Does not PostScript automatically make a blend of a gradient fill and create many small solid color steps?

    Thanks for the Template.

Can I put it in the Xara Xone Templates page?

    1. Nope http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/frown.gif Postcript did not make this... just try, make shape with linear fill - one side M100 Y100 <-> other side M100 Y100 K100, export as EPS and see result... In Photoshop result is one side M100 Y100 <-> K100... where gone Red under black?
In Print this will stay Red-Red Grayish-Black

First of all, Photoshop parses the EPS file and converts it to a raster file (Bitmap)

If you open the EPS file in Illustrator and look at the image in Outline view, you can see the intermediate steps.

The attached image shows a conical rainbow fill and then the same EPS fill in Illustrator in the Outline view mode.

On the other hand, all the CMYK values I set in your template, came into Illustrator and Photoshop almost in tack. Some percentages were off by maybe one percent.

Yes Gary, Photoshop rasterize EPS, Illustrator convert linear fill to blend, but colors Gary, what happened with exact colors?
Try to export EPS from atached file, linear fill changes to blend but colors are different, second object is Xara Blend, after export - collors are unchanged, nevermind Photoshop or Illustrator you use!

    Best regards
