    I was playing with the wood, marble etc fills referred to in the wood thread (thanks to all involved), and wandered off onto others.

    The discovery was a fine texture which, when laid over something else and made transparent - clipart, a photo, or a fabric fill, adds a delicious artistic texture. And by dropping different colours onto the two fill arrows or by stretching the arrows to make coarser and finer patterns, so the effect changes.

    Was the evening really wasted? I think not! [img]/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif[/img] The technique you discovered for yourself is very flexible and therefore very useful. It is what Gary was talking about when he used a bitmap distress his paint finishes in his Sante Fe style image in the carved wood thread.

    Play with the various transparency settings too. One of the most impressive examples ever posted was an image Egg posted of old King Alfred. Best of all Egg made it a mini-tutorial. You can find it here. Don't miss it - it belongs in the xara hall of fame.
