I see a background color I like. What tool do you use to pick that color, to tell you what is the hex of that color ?

... or you use the tool of my choice: Color Picker

I just can't remember where I got it, but the place was Xara-related. Just looked at xaraxone.com, but did not find it.

I also looked at www.merlin.cz, but they do not seem to have the program downloadable.

Maybe Roman can help here, I guess Czech is not too different from Slovak.

I like to have all my windows maximized, so this little tool is really helpful. It shows you the color in either decimal or hex plus its position on the screen where you sampled it.
It has an option to stay on top and it fits nicely under Xara's toolbar.

I didn't know that was possible in Xara. I occasionally use a freeware color picker called Color Spy by Trusoft which also stays on top of your windows. Sorry, I don't have a website address for it.

You're right, Wolfgang. The link to Ladi's SL-Picker seems to be missing from the text on the XaraXone Shareware page.

Athooya: If the eyedropper in Xara isn't what you need, I can probably email you the SL-Picker since it's shareware. If you use it, you have to send Ladi a postcard showing something about where you live (that's the fee he requests <g>).

I've d/l-ed the copy of sl-picker using link from the XaraXone shareware page, but it seems it's disabled there. I've also sent (thumbs up ;-) e-mail to Ladislav but he didn'r reply. So I unfortunately can't help here.

I have a nice little java applet colour picker on my site. I hope you'll all check it out here. Heck, why not put a link from your desktop.

Having read the messages in this thread I did a search for "color pickers" using Google.com and up came a whole plethora of possibilities. Many of them look as though they may fit the bill. Alternatively, go to:

http://download.cnet.com

Doing another search at this site for "color pickers" brought up a list of 43 files, most of which looked to do the job required and some of which were freeware. It wouldn't take too long to give it a try. Be interested to hear what is found if anyone does give it a try.

Tracey

If all else fails do a search!!!
