Again, another question that has probably been asked before...

What kind of application would I use to automatically convert a bunch of jpeg's and gif's to a specific size of file: GIF 80x101 / 256 colors?

    Is there one?

    Thanks for any pointers!

Macromedia Fireworks will do batch conversions. If you don't already have a copy, you can download a 30-day trial version from www.macromedia.com. Then look up "batch conversions" in the Fireworks help file and it will explain how to do it. I've used Fireworks for batch conversions and although it is confusing at first, it does the job.

And Risto, you are AWESOME with Xara. I have visited the XaraXone Artist of the Month section at least five times this month to check out your work.

    Risto,

I am not sure if IrfanView (www.irfanview.com) has this capability. You might want to give it a try.

A really nice batch processing program for images is Atalasoft's Eyebatch, a $24.95 shareware program available at http://www.atalasoft.com/eyebatch/index.asp . You have a lot of choices on how to process the images with this program.

As mentioned by John above, a free program that should accomplish what you need but without as many options is the versatile IrfanView image viewer, available from http://www.irfanview.com/ . Choose "Batch Conversion/Rename" from the "File" menu and hit the "Advanced Options" button in the dialog box that appears.

    Good luck,

    - Pete

    Hi

I use Image Robot from Jasc (same as Paint Shop Pro) www.jasc.com for batchprocessing. You can set a lot of filters, scale, add borders, convert to a lot of filetypes and a lot more, it´s easy to use and fast. I think the trial is full for 30 days. If you have a digital camera, it´s great.

I use irfanview and it will do the batch conversion you need. The interface may be a bit confusing on the batch conversion so be sure you save a copy of your work until you get used to using it. It will do all that you asked in a batch (size, gif>jpg, jpg>gif, etc) no problem - and best of all it's FREE.

I have it installed on every machine I use...great thumbnail viewer too!!

Irfanview will probably do the trick but have a look at xnview.

    http://www.xnview.com/

This is a very nifty image viewer, file converter, and a bunch of other things and it's free...under the tools menu choose convert and there is much that can be done, check the advance operations button for things other than file type.

ThumbsPlus is not only a great asset manager/thumbnail viewer, but also has some great batch processing capabilities...
