Xara and Font troubles.

Ok this is driving me mad. I have to do a bit of typography in XaraX1 but I'm having all sorts of problems with it recognising my fonts.
For example 'Zurich' a bitstream ps1 font gives me an internal error -'failed to read Type1 outline. It opens in EVERY other piece of software I have - Photoshop, expression 3, Mirage, after effects, Premiere, Fireworks, Flash etc. Does anyone else get this sort of thing happening? If so is there a workaround?

Not sure why that is happening Dave.

I have Bitstream Zurich on my computer and it works OK in Xara X1.

I have quite a few Type 1 postscript fonts and I am not having a problem.

It won't work at all on either of my machines with any version of XARA. Charles is looking into it though so I am happy.
Maybe I should just stick to pictures in Xara and leave type well alone.

Dave, Are you having trouble with any other fonts/xaras or just this one font?

Well, after a bit of detective work between Charles (Many thanks) and myself. I seems that my problem lies with the fact that I have the truetype and the type one versions of the font installed.
When I uninstalled the t1 version everything works fine with the TT version. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hi Dave,

Do the different versions of the font show up separately or only 1 entry in the font gallery? I remember some discession about fonts messing up, and the cause of that found and fixed in X1. Do you have any other T1 fonts installed?

I will have to see what I have... TTF or T1 and see how they react on mine.

I do have other T1 fonts installed (according to XP) but they don't show up in the installed fonts folder in Xara. However, if I install a t1 font through Xara it shows up.
Since only having Zurich TT fonts on my machine all of my installed Zurich families appear.

I only have TTF on this machine, and I think they all show up.
