Just a thought/question that popped into my mind: Does anybody out there know how to make graphical skins for programs such as Netscape 6 or does it require a lot (Or any for that matter) of programming knowledge?

    Thanks for your time!

Skins for any application tend to be a pretty aggravating activity. It usually takes no more "programming knowledge" than a typical web page (quoted since in reality HTML and/or XML is not a programming language at all, but I digress) Though I believe there are ways to implement JavaScript in the process so depending on what you want to do it might require some programming skills.
You can find the information online to skin Netscape here...

    Good luck.

Chris Dickman used to have a section of i-us.com devoted to skins and it seems to me that I created some for him. But this was a long time ago (last year I think :-) and I don't recall it being very hard.

You might check out his new site GraphicsNews and do a search for Skins. I bet you turn up something.

Go to Hotbar That is the program and site I/us linked to for skins. If you download the program any graphic you make and will automatically be formated for the browser.

Skinning Netscape 6 is hard (that's why you don't see very many of them). The skinning specs are in flux so you may want to wait until Mozilla 1.0 is released (some time in spring 2002?). If you want to dabble in it: http://chameleon.mozdev.org/ is a skinning tool under development. Knowledge of HTML/XML is probably not necessary, but knowing Cascading Style Sheets is helpful.

Yea, I was hoping for something that I could change the look, shape, etc. of the buttons and scroll bars and stuff, not just the background. Maybe in the future though, that'd be nice! Thanks a lot everyone for their pointers, I'll give them a try.

    Merry Christmas!!
